According to Artical 6 of Nationality Law ,a foreign national or stateless person who has made special contributions to the ROC can also apply for naturalization. Preceding permission of naturalization by the MOI shall be approved by the Executive Yuan. In addition, According to Artical 9 of Nationality Law, those who has made special contributions to the ROC to apply for naturalization, may be exempted from submitting a certificate of loss of original nationality.
According to statistics, there were 95 persons who has made special contributions to the ROC for naturalization in the past 6 years. By year, there were 37 persons in 2017, 18 persons in 2018, 14 persons in 2019, 9 persons in 2020, 7 persons in 2021 and 10 persons in 2022.
By gender, men who made special contributions to the ROC for naturalization in the past 6 years were 71, women were 24. Men and women accounted for 75% and 25% respectively. It is obvious that there is a big gap between men and women, so it is still mainly from men.
By country, among those approved of naturalization with special contributions, the United States took first place with 37 people, followed by Italy and Switzerland. The original countries were still mainly from European and American countries.
