Since the development of offshore wind power has been highlighted as one of our major energy policies, passenger vessels carrying numerous foreign seafarers and foreign technicians have frequently entered and exited our ports because of related engineering projects. In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and ensure tasks concerning the national energy policies are completed on schedule, during the period from June 2020 to March 2021, the National Immigration Agency has conducted related entry-exit inspection projects for 1,672 passenger vessels including 839 inbound and 833 outbound, and has inspected 22,447 seafarers of ROC nationality, 2,755 technicians and 3,983 seafarers of foreign nationalities. The National Immigration Agency coordinates with the other competent authorities to conduct the above inspections striking the balance between convenience, pandemic prevention and border security, to help our national energy policies proceed smoothly.
