Note:

For documents issued at the NIA local service centers, the day an application is accepted by the local service center is the starting day of the listed time frame.
For applications passed to the NIA central office, the day the application is received by the central office of the NIA is the starting day of the listed time frame.
A business day is divided into first half day (8am-12 pm) and second half day (12pm – 5pm). An application filed during first half day hours will be time marked as received in the first half day of the filing day. If it takes 1 day to process the application, application accepted in the first half day can be picked up the next first half day.
If any of the circumstances listed below applies, expedited application processing may be requested:
1. Application processing is not completed within the time frame specified, expedited processing requested by the applicant or his/her agent.
2. Visiting People of the Taiwan Area whose lives are threatened by serious injury or illness, or who are over 60 years old and hospitalized.
3. People of the Mainland Area who are seriously injured or deceased during his stay in the Taiwan Area, and his/her relative from the Mainland Area applies for entry to attend to the matter.
4. Purpose of visit is to attend a funeral.
5. Leaving the State due to emergency, filed by the applicant, applicant’s spouse, applicant’s direct blood relatives, or applicant’s siblings.
6. Visiting for medical treatments or for accompanying the visiting patient, proving documents issued by the medical service providers are required.
7. Other special conditions approved by the director-general of the NIA.
