Cadets COVID-19 Rapid Test Negative after Lunar New Year Holiday

Domestic Omicron variant Covid-19 instances surged during the 2022 Lunar New Year holiday, when big crowds traveled frequently. Because of CPU's unique educational  environment (para-military style) and the need that students reside on campus during the week, CPU Student Corps and students were obliged to undergo the COVID-19 quick test (or PCR) before entering the dormitory to prevent mass infection.

To balance between the general virus-prevention strategy and student vacation activities, CPU offered three testing options: "self-test," "test on campus before homecoming day," and "test on campus on homecoming day." Students may pick one of these and complete it before 5 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, before returning to school. All 1194 cadets tested negative.

A cold front arrived on homecoming day. CPU President Chen Che-wen was present to oversee the administration, identify key disease prevention measures, and provide care for the cadets. He also expressed gratitude to the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taoyuan Branch, for assigning faculty to assist the school. President Chen reminded everyone to stay safe and warm during the testing so that they could return to school in the best possible condition for the new semester.
