Set off fireworks safely during the spring festival: Do not store fireworks illegally to have a good new year peacefully

On New Year’s Eve, New Taipei City Government Fire Bureau received a report saying that someone illegally transported and set off professional firecrackers and fireworks with unidentified source in Bali District of New Taipei City. Also, on Lambai Island of Pingtung, someone was reported to set off fireworks without following the product use instructions and caused injury to others. In both cases, penalties have been imposed according to the laws. National Fire Agency reminds the public that firecrackers and fireworks contain gunpowder ingredients and that citizens shall purchase and store them by law and set them according to the use instructions. As any violation to the rules or use instructions can cause disasters and casualties, citizens must not defy the law, otherwise penalties will be imposed accordingly.

 

The lunar new year is on the corner and may stores have purchased and stored firecrackers and fireworks for selling them during the lunar new year. According to Firework and Firecracker Management Act, when the stored or sold fireworks and firecrackers have reached the control volume, the person-in-charge of the site shall purchase commercial general liability insurance. National Fire Agency expresses that general citizens do not normally possess a storage or sales site that complies with relevant regulations. For those who illegally store or sell firecrackers and fireworks above the control volume will be imposed with a fine of from NTD60,000 to NTD1,500,000.

 

During the spring festival, citizens also set off firecrackers and fireworks to create a bustling atmosphere. National Fire Agency reminds the public that, when purchasing firecrackers and fireworks, it is a must to purchase products with a certification mark and abide by the product use instructions properly. Those who violate these rules will be imposed with a penalty of from NTD30,000 to 150,000. As for professional firecrackers and fireworks, such as fireworks bombs, contain high-risk characteristics and it is a must obtain a license from local fire bureau. Those who import and/or set off professional firecrackers and fireworks. Those who enter the site and set off professional fireworks will be imposed with a fine of 1,500,000 at maximum.

 

An illegal storage of enormous firecrackers and fireworks can result in a fire or explosion accident and cause casualty. National Fire Agency reminds the public to pay attention to the safety when setting off the firecrackers and fireworks; and not to store or sell firecrackers and fireworks illegally in order to prevent the occurrence of an accident. In the case of finding any illegal storage or setting off of fireworks or firecrackers, citizens can report it to the local fire office by dialing 119 in order to maintain the safety of our living environment.
