The National Immigration Agency (NIA) announced that starting on the date of November 1, 2022, 41 e-Gate machines with self-service enrollment function would be placed in Keelung Harbor, Songshan International Airport, Taoyuan International Airport, Kaohsiung International Airport and Kinmen Shuitou Harbor. In the past, to use e-Gate, travelers must firstly undergo the enrollment process by presenting in person to a NIA officer at e-Gate enrollment counter. Now, simply by directly using the 3rd generation e-Gate machine, qualified travelers, namely Taiwan passport or Taiwan Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) holders being above the age of 12, can complete the enrollment process and the immigration clearance together at once by themselves. During the usage, travelers shall submit the facial image and/or fingerprints to the e-Gate system, and thereby complete the process of both enrollment and immigration clearance.
The e-Gate machines are available both in the arrival halls and departure halls of the international ports above. Once the enrollment is completed, the users will be granted with the eligibility of using e-Gate for a lifetime for the best convenience.
