Safety precautions before entering the Taroko National Park?

1. Pay special attention to:
(1) Check the weather, road conditions and accommodation place before taking the road.
(2) Follow all the prohibition signs in the park (i.e. no swimming, camping, campfires etc.) and cautions (i.e. beware of falling rocks, cliffs, snakes, wild animals).
(3) Inquire about various conditions at any time and follow the advice of park staff.

1. When hiking pay special attention to the following:
(1) Do not follow inexperienced or irresponsible mountain guides.
(2) Do not join a team with more than 1/3 first-time hikers.
(3) Plan the trip carefully and prepare all materials in advance.
(4) Train your physical strength and read more to increase your knowledge of map reading, and basic survival and medical skills.
(5) Prepare sufficient food and everything necessary for the trip, giving consideration to varied nutrition such as carbohydrates, fats and protein.
(6) Check the weather reports and observe any weather changes at all times before and after entering the mountain area.
(7) Adjust your breath during the hike. Do not breathe too fast.
(8) Let your family or other contact know your plans before entering the park.
(9) Inform the Taroko National Park Headquarters, Taroko National Park Police or the local police station before entering the park.
