To narrow the digital gap among new immigrants, the National Immigration Agency, MOI has been providing equal-opportunities for new immigrants and organized & implemented the “Equal-Opportunity Digital Learning Platform for New Immigrants “and “The Program of Assuring Broadband Internet Access for New Immigrants” hoping to increase broadband internet access for new immigrants, and build a new digital life for them.
In order to demonstrate the results of the project and expand the scope of services, the National Immigration Agency will hold an achievement exhibition of “The Program of Assuring Broadband Internet Access for New Immigrants ＆ Equal-Opportunity Digital Learning Platform for New Immigrants” on November 23, 2019. There will be a display area and an experience area on-site to enable new residents to bring their children to learn and experience tablet devices and multiple digital courses, and to provide a variety of interesting digital experiences such as digital games, photo-sticker machines, and heat transfer.
The National Immigration Agency said that the "Equal-Opportunity Digital Learning Platform for New Immigrants” has been operating mobile device sharing services since 2018. It provides new residents with tablets for home borrowing devices and 10GB of free Internet traffic per month. New households without Internet or unable to access the Internet at home can quickly and easily access government digital information and services. In addition, we have also created successively a digital opportunity environment at different local service stations of the National Immigration Agency to provide free Internet access and a WIFI environment for the public and new residents. At the same time, we have also established a new resident exchange platform to provide a multicultural introduction and collect various employments, education, and other information. We often organize various online activities, so that countrymen and new residents can understand each other's different customs and cultures and strengthen interaction.
Moreover, the “Equal-Opportunity Digital Learning Platform for New Immigrants” in 2019 has provided free computer courses for a total of 16 information entity courses, including 8 popular courses, 4 advanced courses, and 4 practical courses. It also has provided the mobile learning car and a plentiful of online learning resources enable new residents to learn and use nearby and use multi-learning to enhance digital application capabilities.
The National Immigration Agency said that since the launch of these two projects, new residents have been using digital resources to improve their lives, so they have achieved excellent results. Through digital and online applications, new residents can not only communicate with relatives and friends overseas, but also quickly obtain information about the government and the private sector, narrow the gap in life adjustment, enhance competitiveness, and accelerate their integration into Taiwan society.
