The 2019 National Day celebration kicked off at the plaza in front of the Presidential Office on Oct. 10. The celebration is centered on the theme of “2019 Taiwan Forward”. It's main visual featuring a double ten (十) design formed by two arrows pointing upward and to the right, symbolizes Taiwan's uninterrupted pursuit of progress and better than better. Green is intended to symbolize the vitality and earnestness of the people of Taiwan, while purple is employed to represent the country’s hospitality and friendliness. Other design variants use blue, indigo, yellow, and orange to show the inclusiveness and diversity of our homeland creating unlimited opportunities.
On the National Day, flags aligning along streets around Ketagalan Boulevard brought a cheerful ambience for the celebration. The prelude started at 8:45 with performance by Army Academy, Taipei Yuehfu Drum & Bugle Corps., Taiwan Pei De Sport Association, the Joint Military Marching Band and the Republic of China Marine Corps. Then, formation of the National Airborne Service Corps UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, Navy’s anti-submarine warfare helicopters, Army’s Boeing AH-64E Apache, and Bell AH-1W Cobra helicopters flypass over the area of the Presidential Office in Taipei. In the end, the Joint Military Marching Band again came to cover the main stage.
The ceremony began at 10:00 with Professor Anna Azusa Fujita and Edmued RYDEN ( Lei Dunhe ), both naturalized citizens, join with 30 recent immigrants from Southeast Asia in singing the national anthem, thus highlighting our country's spirit of inclusiveness, and our willingness to join hands with the rest of the world to move forward together toward a harmonious and progressive future. At the same time, a transport helicopter from the ROC Army's Aviation and Special Forces Command will fly past the viewing platform with a huge ROC flag in tow.
The celebration will also feature a float parade carrying Taiwanese athletes who have medaled in a variety of international sporting events, award-winning technical and vocational talents, and military personnel who have been singled out for special recognition. The participants in this "Parade of Taiwanese Heroes" will be cheered on by the crowds, with whom they will join in celebrating the Double Tenth National Day. The floats follow-up showcased at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Combining cultural and creative market, food vendors, and lighting show, the themed allow the public to see the 23 floats and lighting show every night at 19:00 until Oct 20.
Before the end of the celebration, a formation by R.O.C. Air Force IDF and Thunder Tigers flypass over the Presidential Office Building, festive atmosphere of the National Day and bring the event to the climax, giving the public a lively National Day celebration.
