During the Ministry of the Interior's agency task briefing in the afternoon of June 27, the National Immigration Agency reported the "New Immigrant and Children Empowerment Plan" implementation results. In addition to the recognition and commendation of the National Immigration Agency's long-term plans of numerous events and services designed for new immigrant families, Minister Kuo-Yung Hsu also stressed that new immigrant families are a new force in Taiwan's society. The New Immigrant and Children Empowerment Plan provides opportunities for new immigrants and their children to expand their international horizons, and empowers them to exert their language and cultural advantages to become important resources for Taiwan to expand overseas exchanges.
Diversified Training for Dream Building: Nearly 20,000 Participated in 5 Years
The Ministry of the Interior indicated that at present, there are approximately 540 thousand new immigrants with 410 thousand children. They are a new force for Taiwan to promote the New Southbound Policy and an important boost to Taiwan's international development.
Each year, the National Immigration Agency would organize new immigrant and children training events such as "Overseas Life Experiences," "Domestic Training Workshop," "Dream Building Plan" and "Scholarships (subsidies)." Nearly 20,000 have participated in the events since 2015. The participants have shared their participation results and indicated that they have helped new immigrants and their children to boost confidence, improved parent-child relationships, drew teachers and students closer to each other, and promoted cross-cultural knowledge and literacy at the same time. The 2019 Dream Building Plan results announcement and celebration tea party were held on May 25, and a total of 25 groups received awards.
Participant of the Cultivation Workshop Made a Wish to Become an Immigration Officer in 3 Years.
In addition, after the 5-day and 4-night baptism for the students in the "New Job Startup Training Workshop" held during each summer, the students have aspired to become immigration officers, nurses, or naval medical officers. For example, Pei-Yi Zheng and Lin-Yen Pan, who participated in the 2015 training workshop, took the 2018 immigration administration special exam together, were accepted for the 3rd-class Indonesian and Vietnamese teams, and have formally joined the ranks of immigration officials. We love to provide services to the countries of our origin, and we hope our second-generation new immigrant experiences can facilitate contribution to the immigration affairs. This year's workshop will start on July 15.
This Year's Overseas Training Will Cover Students from 14 Countries or Regions.
In addition, this year's overseas training programs include a family group, a teacher group, a social services group and a peer group with a total of 101 groups of 209 people. The workshop will start during summer for students from 14 countries or regions. The aim is for the children of the new immigrants to return to the home countries of their parents, experience their local cultures, understand their language and cultural advantages and build a bridge connecting the international community.
The Ministry of the Interior pointed out that the National Immigration Agency has actively implemented the "New Immigrant Training Plan" and the results have received enthusiastic responses from all fields. In the future, the agency will construct a talent training database, expand the marketing activities and continue to provide rolling adjustments for the training plan in order to cultivate Taiwan's talent capital and enable communities to have more understanding and respect for multiculturalism.
