On May 13th, the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) convened the committee reviewing the naturalization of high-level professionals and approved naturalization of the ROC citizenship ten foreign professional talents including Mr. Fu from Austria who specializes in contestant training and consultation of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Since the amendment of the “Nationality Act” on December 21, 2016, 86 foreign professional talents accumulated are naturalized ROC citizenship without submitting a certificate of loss of original nationality.
According to MOI, more and more young foreign professional talents between 30 to 50 years old are looking for naturalization to become the ROC citizens. Among talents approved this time, Ms. Du originally from Vietnam is only 33 years old and she specializes in the integration of commercial system including artificial intelligence, IoT and big data. She used to lead her team to complete various domestic projects in Taiwan including improvement engineering projects of monitoring and control system at Taipei International Airport and improvement of the computer facilities of Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government and help the development of domestic industries in Taiwan.
Among ten foreigners with professional talent who are granted with the ROC citizenship this time, six are from the education field, one from the economic field, one from the medical field, one from the agricultural engineering field, and one from cultural and arts field. Mr. Fu, originally from Austria, has demonstrated professional research and outstanding teaching achievements by contributing greatly to the math education in Taiwan. Ms. Lu, originally from France, has long been engaged in language teaching. In addition to her teaching excellence, she has long provided assistance to Foreign Affairs interpretation services and international exchange and cooperation between Taiwan and France, a highly important figure.
Mr. Ko, originally from France, for example, is an important facilitator for Taiwan’s edamame supply chain. He has long provided Taiwan’s edamame industry with the agricultural and mechanic professional technologies to enhance Taiwan’s edamame export to Japanese with a market share of 44% and revenue of NTD1.67 billion foreign exchange.
Additionally, Mr. An, originally from South Africa, a senior colorist for films, commercials, and MVs. He is a winner of the silver award at Cannes Lions as well as the platinum award of the WorldFest-Houston International Film and Video Festival; he is also a member of the important International Colorist Academy (ICA). He has devoted himself to experience sharing and teaching of Taiwan’s colorists and to the improvement of video production standards in Taiwan.
