Deputy Minister of the Interior Chien Tai-lang

explains the main provisions of an amendment to

the Assembly and Parade Law at a press

conference in Taipei Thursday. The amendment,

which was approved by the Executive Yuan earlier

in the day, will allow protest organizers to

simply report their plans to the police

authorities instead of having to obtain advance

approval as stipulated in the existing law.
