Interior minister talks about free speech

Interior minister talks about free speechInterior Minister Yeh Jiunn-rong (葉俊榮) attends a forum arranged by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) on Taiwan's freedom of speech progress and future challenges Friday in Taipei. Yeh indicates at the event that the death of pro-democracy activist Cheng Nan-jung (鄭南榕) has a great impact on Taiwan and helps people to better understand the importance of freedom of speech.

Cheng died on April 7, 1989 after he set a fire on himself to protest against the restriction on freedom of speech during the rule of then-ruling Kuomintang (KMT).
