Minister of the Interior Kuo-yung Hsu visited the Taijiang National Park accompanied by Construction and Planning Agency Director General Hsin-hsou Wu. According to Kuo-yung Hsu, Taijiang National Park is the only wetland national park in the country, besides nearly 60% of the global black-faced spoonbill population (a protected species) visit the park in winter every year, Taijiang Academy is a diamond class green building featuring unique stilt design, making it a new landmark for checking in and taking photos in Tainan. Everyone is invited to visit the park and experience the beauty of the wetland national park.
Ministry of the Interior remarked that Taijiang National Park is located in the low-lying regions of the southwest coast, boasting a plethora of habitats such as abandoned fish farms, salt pans, estuaries, and mudflats by the mangroves, providing an abundant source of sustenance for various species. Every winter, the black-faced spoonbills will visit Taijiang National Park, attracting countless international birdwatchers to come to the region. Located by the Yanshui River, the Taijiang Academy's stilt design is covered in oyster shell bricks to enhance its heat insulation performance, and it is the only public diamond class green building in southern Taiwan. Its unique architectural design has turned it into a new landmark for checking in and taking photos in Tainan.
In addition, the visitor center was also officially opened on March 30 this year (2019). Featuring a large scale model of the wetland ecosystem, the visitors are able to gain deeper insight into the tiny creatures living in the wetland from a very close distance.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, apart from upholding the philosophy of ecological conservation, Taijiang National Park will strive to facilitate developments in the local industry and tourism. Kuo-yung Hsu later paid a visit to the Seventh Division, The Seventh Special Police Corps, National Policy Agency, MOI to express his gratitude for the officers' diligent work, and he urged them to continue clamping down on illegal activities in order to protect safety of the public's life and property, as well as the ecological environment of the wetland.
