Schools Join Hands with Police in Off-Campus Anti-Drug Patrol Operation
Schools nation-wide joined hands with the police in an anti-drug patrol operation on June 28, deploying 1,652 policemen to 797 patrol routes and 1,848 patrol sites to uncover drug hot spots and to keep juveniles from using drugs.

The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education have jointly established patrol networks covering drug hot spots. The Student Off-Campus Guidance Committee provided information regarding frequent student drug dealing locations and time periods, and police agencies would resolve issues regarding drug hot spots and planning and development of patrol networks covering these locations.

Schools and police agencies have cooperated in off-campus patrol operations, monitoring juveniles inclined to delinquent activities and providing them timely advice and guidance.

In the afternoon of June 28, Interior Minister Yeh Jiunn-rong visited the New Taipei City Government to see the execution of the joint patrol operation. He also went to some drug hot spots and talked to young people he met, advising them to stay away from drugs and to spend their summer holidays attending proper recreational activities and sport events.

During summer holidays, local governments are cooperating with civic groups to sponsor recreational activities for youths. The Ministry of the Interior expects parents to encourage their youngsters attending these summer programs. Information regarding youth programs can be found on websites of local governments or police agencies.
