As part of the " Refinement and Promotion Project of Validation Methods for Aging Technology Products and Services in Residential Settings," the Architecture and Building Research Institute held two sessions of the “Value Proposition Workshop on Validation of Aging Technology Products and Services in Residential Settings” on April 28 and 29, 2025. The events were hosted at the GIS NTU Convention Center (Locke Hall) in Taipei and the GIS Taichung Xinwuri Convention Center (Baben Hall), respectively.
Each corporate team was paired with a teaching assistant to guide them in applying design thinking and innovative approaches to clarify their market positioning and target audience. The goal was to help companies aiming to introduce products and services into the home lives of older adults articulate the unique strengths of their offerings and develop clear value propositions.
A total of 20 corporate teams participated in the workshops. Team members included CEOs, general managers, marketing and sales personnel, R&D staff, project managers, and consultants. The participating companies represented a broad range of sectors, including AIoT, nutritional consulting, physiological monitoring, health management and nursing, rental housing, assistive living devices, and medical equipment.
Professor Calvin Lai, Chief Strategy Officer of NTU iNSIGHT, shared insights on design thinking and innovation methods. With support from the teaching assistants, teams explored how their products and services could address the pain points of their target users and how they compared to competitors. Each team then created and presented a value proposition poster based on their reflections.
Throughout the workshops, teams actively participated and engaged in meaningful exchanges with one another. Following the workshops, interdisciplinary experts will be invited to review the companies’ submitted value proposition proposals. These experts will provide evaluations and constructive feedback during a product positioning assessment meeting for each company.
