The new Passenger Service Center at Kinmen Shuitou Port is scheduled to be completed and opened in early next year (2026). To provide smoother cross-Strait “Mini Three Links” immigration services, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) will deploy the next-generation automated immigration clearance system (e-Gate) at the new location. The NIA Border Affairs Corps will begin relocating the e-Gate lanes starting December 10, 2025. Three next-generation e-Gates currently installed at the existing passenger center will be moved to the new facility. During the relocation period, traveler flow will remain unaffected, and existing e-Gates will continue to operate. The Corps will also open additional inspection counters and assign more staff based on ferry schedules to ensure smooth entry and exit processing.
The NIA noted that, in addition to relocating the three next-generation e-Gates to the arrival area of the new facility, seven new e-Gates will be installed in the departure area, with space reserved for future expansion to meet increasing tourism demand on the Mini Three Links route. The next-generation e-Gate features in-lane registration, on-the-move biometric verification, and multilingual voice guidance. ROC nationals and foreign residents aged 10 or older, standing at least 120 cm tall, and holding an e-passport or Resident Certificate may complete both registration and clearance directly within the e-Gate in as little as 10 seconds—offering faster service and a more intuitive experience.
Michael Lin, Acting Chief Commander of the NIA Border Affairs Corps, stated that the next-generation e-Gate offers four key advantages: greater convenience, enhanced user-friendliness, expanded accessibility, and faster processing. The NIA has been systematically upgrading e-Gates at airports and seaports nationwide. All older-generation e-Gates at Taipei Songshan Airport, Taoyuan International Airport, Taichung Airport, and Kaohsiung International Airport have already been fully replaced. The installation of next-generation e-Gates at the new Kinmen Shuitou Port Passenger Service Center will also be completed in phases, ensuring that travelers arriving or departing via air or sea can enjoy smarter and more seamless immigration services.
