On October 2, 2025, the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) held a regular meeting that featured a presentation by the Central Police University (CPU) titled "The Current Status and Outlook of Police Technology Teaching and Research." Minister Liu Shyh-fang stated that as technology rapidly evolves and crimes become increasingly complex, the MOI is actively promoting new investigative strategies, strengthening technological investigation and forensic capabilities, and continuously enhancing the professional training of law enforcement officials. In response to major disasters caused by extreme climate events and to the challenges of handling cases involving complex emerging criminal technology tactics, the MOI plans to establish a "Disaster Prevention and Relief College" and a "Technological Investigation Artificial Intelligence Simulation Laboratory." These entities will integrate technology with practice to train specialists in disaster early warning, response decision-making, recovery planning, and the prevention and investigation of technological enabled crimes. This initiative aims to jointly advance disaster risk governance and the building of resilient communities, thereby strengthening overall disaster prevention and investigative capacity.
The MOI noted that the CPU is implementing a Teaching Enhancement Plan from 2024 to 2026, which introduces advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drones, and establishing systems for cryptocurrency tracing, digital evidence analysis, and big data investigation. These measures effectively improve law enforcement efficiency and investigative accuracy. To build on these achievements and confront emerging public safety challenges, the MOI will continue refining teaching capacity in smart technology law enforcement and security protection, further strengthening the cultivation of technological literacy and responsiveness so as to develop the professional competencies needed by the next generation of police officers.
Furthermore, the Disaster Prevention and Relief College is slated for completion by the end of October 2026. It will integrate higher education institutions, research centers, and practical training venues to create a comprehensive three-in-one learning system that encompasses professional knowledge, skills, and application. In the future, the MOI will continue to promote the dual-axis development of "Smart Technology" and "Disaster Response," while strengthening law enforcement officials’ capabilities in areas such as cyber fraud, cross-border money laundering, and disinformation. It will also deepen disaster prevention education and cross-domain integration to solidify both public safety and disaster prevention capacities, thus comprehensively protecting public safety and enhancing national resilience.
