A group of 30 student from the Department of Public Safety and Fire Science at Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science, led by Professor Mu-Yuan Hsu, visited our Fire Experimental Center on April 15. The purpose of the visit was to enhance students’ understanding of the regulations of fire safety inspections in buildings, including fire protection equipment testing, hot smoke testing, fire-resistant materials, fire compartment, and so on.
The visit began with a brief introduction, outlining the layout of the center’s experimental areas. The group then toured several facilities, including the flame-retardant testing lab, fire resistance testing lab, and the comprehensive fire experiment zones featuring two full-scale fire simulation houses (a curtain wall fire resistance test and a general fire simulation test). They also observed the large-scale smoke control test area, the 10MW calorimeter system, fire protection equipment smoke barrier test zone, and the fire-resistant structural elements test zone.
During the on-site tour, the visiting students engaged in discussions with our staff regarding public safety inspections and both theoretical and practical aspects of building fire protection. They expressed great interest and were impressed by the center’s research capacity and experimental verification capabilities.
