The Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) of Miaoli County yesterday announced a wood sculpture exhibition, which will run between Oct.1 to Nov.29, with themes surrounding life, nature, and art.

The exhibition will invite wood sculptors from Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan to showcase their art works. More than 140 articles will be put on show during the exhibition.

CAB stated that an exhibition hall will be dedicated to works done by aborigines in Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. CAB announced that participants will find the show very interesting since the topic is being approached from various angels and perspectives. Philippe Brooks, the founder of the School of Wood in Australia, will hold a seminar on Oct.2. He will speak to an audience about efficient utilization of unused spaces around the County.

CAB indicated that Taiwan's entry in WTO caused all types of industries to face pressure from around the world. In order to assist local artists, CAB decided to invite sculptors from abroad to interact with them in hopes that it would broaden their horizons. With the exhibition, CAB hopes that the wood sculpting industry in Miaoli County will receive a healthy dose of creative ideas by interacting with artists from abroad.
