Taiwan, Indonesia joint team busted a metric ton of amphetamine

The Criminal Investigation Bureau(CIB)of the National Police Agency under the Ministry of the Interior received foreign intelligence earlier this year alleging that a Chinese cross-border drug trafficking ring has been using fishing boats to transport drugs from China to Indonesia, where Taiwanese smugglers are recruited to collect drugs. The intelligence also showed that Taiwanese accomplices went collecting drugs with Indonesian smugglers after knowing the local area and driving habits. After making sure the accurateness of the information, the Bureau the CIB formed a drug enforcement team with the Aviation Police Bureau, the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya Jakarta, Indonesia, and the Indonesian police to carry out the investigation at from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on July 13. Three Taiwanese and four Indonesian smugglers were seized at Anyer Beach in Banten, and a total of 51 packs of drugs weighing 1,000kg which were preliminarily identified as the class B drug amphetamine were found on their vehicles. During Indonesian police’s seizing of smuggling the exchange of gunfire, criminal Lin was shot dead by the Indonesian police after attempting to hit the police with vehicle. The Indonesian police went on to investigate the involved fishing boats, Indonesian buyers and smuggling gangs drug trafficking ring, and discovered five suspects from Taiwan on a yacht called Wanderlust around Batam on Aug. 15. The five suspects have been arrested for interrogation after being identified as accomplices.
