The photo   The Ministry of the Interior(MOI) is responsible for subjects relating to people's rights and social welfare, including population, territory, construction, local governance, alternative service, security, immigration, etc.

For the purpose of clarifying the policies and development progress of the Ministry of the Interior, we have summarized the key points and separated them into 6 main policy categories:

National Territories Development: Forest and Seacoast Recovery, City and Country Remodeling
 
 Formulating and revising the National Land Use Planning Act, Coastal Zone Act, and National Park Act.
 Promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction to build ecological cities and country.
 Completing the National Territory Plan which focused on 3 living areas and 7 major development regions.
 Promoting the Urban Renewal Program.
 Building an accessible and pedestrian friendly space.

Population Policy: Boosting Birth Rate, Elderly Care, Assistance for Foreign Spouses
 
 Promoting family value.
 Consulting experts and scholars for creating an environment suitable for birth giving and child rearing.
 Enhancing welfare for the elder to ensure economic security, life care, and health maintenance.
 Making the country friendly to immigrants as well as respectful of different cultures.
 Regularly reviewing and revising the population policies.

Social Welfare: Improving Poverty Care and Minority Assistance
 
 Revising the Social Assistance Act to increase low-income household care. Expanding care for the minority.
 Revising the Children and Youth Welfare Act to ensure their rights.
 Revising the National Pension Act to cover more people in need.
 Expanding care for families with special circumstances. Increasing aid for single-parent families and grandparenting families.
 Preserving the rights of the disabled as well as providing them with comprehensive services and supports.
 Strengthening the efforts in family abuse and sexual harassment prevention as well as improving youth protection in order to ensure the safety of our young generation.

Public Security: Strengthening Security and Police Services
 
 Eliminating fraud, theft, and rumors.
 Improving equipments and well managing the budget.
 Emphasizing on anti-corruption by establishing a system of rewards and penalties.
 Gathering volunteers to maintain a safe society.
 Reviewing and bettering the education, training and employment program of the police.

Disaster Prevention: Building a Comprehensive System to Ensure the Safety of Our Citizens
 
 Revising the Disaster Prevention and Protection Act. Initiating the Organization Act of Disaster Prevention and Protection Agency.
 Developing a comprehensive system for disaster prevention and performing disaster prevention drills.
 Establishing an advanced training center for disaster prevention and rescuing.
 Expanding aerial search and rescue facilities, and maintaining smooth communication during rescue operations.
 Developing a platform for information analysis on disaster prevention and improving disaster response mechanism.

Human Rights: Democratic Deepening and the Implementation of Human Rights Treaties
 
 Establishing the Administrative Division Act and related regulations to complete the city and county merger and upgrade project.
 Establishing the Political Parties Act to form a standard operation process as well as to prevent corruptions.
 Promoting absentee voting system to ensure citizen suffrage.
 Reviewing and revising regulations which were in conflict with International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
 Promoting the legislation for the Refugee Act to ensure refugees' rights.
 Revising the Parade and Assembly Law to ensure marchers' and protesters' rights.
 Holding the "Democracy Moves Forward" series seminars to gather intellectuals and NGOs for democratic development.

By following the principle of "putting Taiwan first for the benefit of the people" declared by President Ma, the Ministry of the Interior has never stopped working on delivering better lives to our citizens, preventing corruption, improving care for the minorities, enhancing public services, conserving energy, balancing development of both urban and rural areas, and making our homeland a place of justice and peace.
